Caring for your Boots

Our boots are built to last for years - with proper care and resoling. Follow these essential care tips using our Ringers Western cleaning products and they will not only last longer, but will survive whatever you throw at them.

Cleaning, Conditioning & Care for Smooth Leathers

Before taking your boots for a walk, protect them with Ringers Western stain & water repellent. This will help seal the leather and repel water.

Clean

To clean your boots, remove any mud or dirt using a damp cloth or soft shoe brush after each use.

Condition

Apply Ringers Western leather conditioner evenly with a clean polishing cloth. This refreshes the look of your leather, giving added shine whilst also preventing the leather from cracking.

Leather needs to be conditioned regularly, approximately every six weeks to revive and maintain the leather.

Protect

Apply Ringers Western Dubbin, this has been formulated using waxes, tallows and oils to replenish and seal the leather whilst forming a protective waterproof barrier.

Polish

To restore boots that have been scratched or scuffed we recommend using a high quality boot polish in a neutral or matching colour.

Store

Store boots in a dry place with either a shoe stuffer, or alternatively a shoe tree or tissue paper stuffed inside.

Resole

Your boots may need the occasional resoling. Ringers boots are made with Goodyear welt construction, allowing them to be resoled easily. Take your boots to a Professional Cobbler to ensure the work is done properly.

Step 1

Boots MUST be tried on indoors on a carpeted floor.
Try your boots on with the thickness of socks that you plan on wearing.

It is much easier to pull your boots on when you are seated.
You should hear a soft “THUNK” when your foot settles into the boot.

Some resistance is normal.

Step 2

They should feel snug, but not uncomfortable. The leather will stretch with wear.

Boots should slip slightly in the heel, slight slipage is necessary to obtain a proper fit. After wearing the boots a few times and flexing the outsole, most of the slippage will disappear and conform to the shape of your foot, providing a comfortable fit. Be patient, the more you wear your boots the better!

The toe box on a boot surrounds the toes and the front part of the foot. Do not press on this area, this type of pressure could cause permanent damage. To test the toe box area for fit, wiggle your toes‚ they should be able to move easily inside the boot.

Step 3

Walk around on the carpet.

Try on both boots - your feet may be two different sizes.

Note: New boots fit snugly, boots will ‘break in’, stretch and conform to your foot.
